Built in the 1970’s and newly renovated in 2024, Cohuna Village aged care is a four wing facility located at the rear of the local hospital and 1km from city centre. The home accommodates 45 beds, with 11 designated in our memory support unit. All of Cohuna Village’s single rooms feature private ensuites.

Nutrition

Cohuna Village’s experienced hospitality staff includes a chef and kitchen hand, so residents can enjoy nutritious and appetising meals every day. A 4-week rotational as well as seasonal menu is provided.

Activities + excursions

Residents enjoy gardening in our three outdoor courtyards. Other activities include bingo, cards, crafts and movie night, while live entertainers and school groups visit on a regular basis. Weekly shopping and monthly bus trips are available to places like Pyramid Hill or Cherry Farm.

Sense of community

We’re committed to providing residents with a sense of belonging. This is practiced within our facility and extends out into the community with weekly shopping trips and monthly trips.

Family and friends may visit Cohuna Village anytime. For added peace of mind, remote video calls are always available. Our team is skilled to assist with technology to set up a successful video call.

My wife entered Lyndoch Living on 28 December and I have been fortunate enough to be able to visit heron a regular basis three times a week. These visits last from four to six hours each day. I have great admiration for all of the staff [...] in terms of their patience, professionalism and empathy with the residents. Your staff selection process has been very successful. The meals provided are of high quality and I have commented on a number of times that the meals are much higher quality than those that I used to provide my wife. Explanation of fees at Cohuna Village

Your own personal circumstances and financial situation will influence the amount you pay for your place in an aged care home. The Government determines how much you pay or may be required to contribute. For some people the Government will pay for most of the costs and for others, that can afford to, the Government will ask you to contribute more. We have a range of options that cater to everybody, no matter what their financial situation is.

Basic daily fee

This fee covers the cost of day-to-day services, such as meals, cleaning, laundry and facilities management, and is payable by all residents.

Based on current rate:

$66.80

The basic daily fee = 85% of the single person rate of the basic age pension. This changes twice per year.

Hotelling supplement contribution

This supplement covers daily living expenses such as cleaning, meals, and laundry, over and above the basic daily fee.

Payable depending on the resident’s assessable assets and income. You may be eligible for Governmental financial assistance.

Daily cap:

$22.15

Non-clinical care contribution

This covers the cost of non-clinical services like social support, lifestyle activities, and administration.

Payable depending on the resident’s assessable assets and income. You may be eligible for Governmental financial assistance.

Daily cap:

$105.30

Lifetime cap:

$135,318.69 or

the resident has been in aged care for more than four years.

Accommodation cost

This covers the cost of living in a residential aged care home. You may be eligible for Governmental financial assistance.

How will I know if I’m eligible for financial assistance for aged care?

Financial assistance is available to those who truly need it. A means assessment will determine your eligibility based on your financial situation.

What are my options if I am self-funding my aged care accommodation?

The good news is, if you are paying for your accommodation costs without Government assistance, you have a choice as to how you pay:

Option 1: RAD

A lump sum payment:

$475,000 Standard room

$525,000 Superior room

RAD = Refundable Accommodation Deposit
Fully refundable when you leave the home, less 2% per annum (maximum 5 years).

Option 2: DAP

Daily payments:

$109.71 Standard room

$121.25 Superior room

DAP = Daily Accommodation Payment
Rental-style, non-refundable payments.

Option 3: RAD + DAP

A combination of 50% RAD + 50% DAP
50% refundable when you leave the home, less 2% per annum (maximum 5 years).

Example of combination payment of a standard room:
50% refundable deposit (RAD) of $237,500
and 50% daily payment (DAP) of $54.85
