Our Board of Directors Hits the Road for Community Consultation
Baw Baw Views, Lyrebird Village, Wattleglen |
Each month, our Board of Directors meets to discuss operational updates and deliberate on key activities and areas of focus on the horizon, including the opportunities and challenges impacting our teams and communities, as well as the broader aged care industry.
Across Respect, we are committed to ensuring everyone in our communities—including our staff, residents, clients, and their loved ones—has an active voice and is represented in the operations of our organisation and any future decision-making. As a result, a key function of our Board involves seeking feedback, so they can draw on our people’s diverse insights to enact positive and meaningful change.
Throughout the year, internal groups such as our Consumer Advisory Body and Quality Care Advisory Body provide our Board with direct insights, comments, and assessments regarding our organisation’s quality of care and services. And, more generally, our Board also regularly visits our communities to meet with staff and residents for in-person meetings and discussions.
In the lead-up to their most recent meeting, our board members enjoyed taking the opportunity to pay a special visit to staff and residents at several of our homes across regional Victoria.
This included memorable visits to Wattleglen, Baw Baw Views and Lyrebird Village, where our board members enjoyed saying hello to residents and meeting with staff to discuss their current experiences and perspectives around working in modern aged care. Conversations involved casting an eye to the eventful months ahead, including the introduction of the new Aged Care Act and all the planning required to bring the new Act into our services, so we can continue to meet both government and community expectations.
But, above all, the visits gave our board members an opportunity to see the impactful work of our amazing staff firsthand—and thank them for their ongoing commitment and service to those who matter most: the older people living in our communities.
A big thank you to all the staff and residents at Wattleglen, Baw Baw Views and Lyrebird Village for making our board feel so welcome and for openly sharing your unique perspectives.
