How To Access Home Care Packages in Sydney

Seniors (aged 65+, or 50+ for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander individuals) can access government funding for our home care packages in Sydney under the Home Care Packages (HCP) Program. 

There are four levels of support packages that eligible individuals can be approved for. Applications are assessed by the ACAT and are placed on a national waitlist when approved. Upon receiving the funding, individuals can get the in-home care they need with a home care provider like Respect. 

If you require any guidance with the application process to obtain government funding for in-home aged care services in Sydney, we have a friendly team of Care Managers who will be able to help. Our Care Managers are familiar with the application process and can walk you through it step-by-step, providing additional assistance with accessing MyAgedCare, ACAT, or private care services if required.

Specialised Home Care Providers in Sydney

Respect’s home care services in Sydney also include specialised care for individuals with complex care needs or living situations. Depending on your approved level of funding, you may be able to access:

Home care for dementia: Home care services that are focused on supporting individuals with dementia care needs. Respect can assign care providers who are adept at assisting with the difficulties posed by dementia to ensure the safety of loved ones in a familiar environment.

Respite care: Respect’s home care services can be tailored to include respite care for primary carers, giving them the opportunity to rest and recuperate while continuing to support the needs of their loved ones. 

Nursing care at home: Home care assistance that covers nursing care for individuals who are undergoing medical treatment or have a persistent medical condition that requires more complex care.

How Much Funding Am I Eligible For?

The level of care required will determine the funding available. When you first apply, your care needs will be assessed into either level 1, 2, 3, or 4, depending on what kind of care you require to continue living at home.

  • Level 1: $10,687.20 a year
  • Level 2: $18,793.85 a year
  • Level 3 : $40,905.55 a year
  • Level 4 : $62,013.50 a year

Each level of HCP provides a different set of care services based on your needs. For instance, those eligible for a level 1 package will receive a basic level of care that includes things like personal care, meal preparation, shopping, and social support. Level 4 on the other hand is designed for those who need a high level of care and will include everything from personal care to nursing care, medication management, transportation to appointments, and help with assisted technology.

The Aged Care Assessment is designed to ensure that all needs are met and with the HCP initiative, you receive the funding appropriate for your home care needs.
