Respect Pays Tribute to Staff on Aged Care Employee Day
Aged Care Employee Day |
Aged Care Employee Day – held each year on 7 August – invites us to honour the 370,000 residential care, home care and retirement living staff who provide ongoing support to more than 1.5 million older Australians.
For Respect, the day is an opportunity to celebrate and recognise our 3,100 team members across the country, their ongoing dedication and commitment, and the wonderful work they do, impacting lives in local communities.
Respect’s mission is to care for older people in an environment of respect, value and belonging, and we consider our staff as the lifeblood of our work.
Through our work with, and connection to, the communities in which we operate, we remain proudly connected with our organisation’s own origins – a century of caring for older Australians. Whether it is across our aged care homes, retirement living villages, or in the support we provide older Australians through home care, our teams’ values and sense of community sit at the heart of everything we do. And this is driven by our amazing people, who all share a passion to ensure great care is received by older people living in regional communities.
Our Managing Director and CEO Jason Binder shared a big thank you to all Respect staff, recognising Aged Care Employee Day as a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge the wonderful work undertaken across the industry, including the daily impact aged care workers have on local communities.
“If you ask any resident living at an aged care home, or their family, what they value most about the support they or their loved one is receiving, they won’t mention buildings, benefits or services. While they are important, it’s the people working on the ground that make the aged care industry truly special. It’s what residents remember, celebrate and appreciate,” he says.
“At Respect, I continue to be blown away by our staff members and I’m privileged to be able to lead and collaborate with such a wonderful team. That’s what motivates me. Regardless of their role and responsibilities, when I speak with my colleagues, one universal similarity shines through: a motivation to get up every day and make a difference to the lives of older people in the community.
“Thank you to all our Respect team members as well as everyone in the industry for all the valuable work that you all do.”
