Fun and Friends the Best Medicine at Our Day Therapy Centre
Day Therapy Centre, Home Care |
Ask clients of our Day Therapy Centre in Launceston, Tasmania, what they enjoy most about being involved with the local community centre and they will almost certainly say the same thing: the people.
At Respect, we truly believe it’s the wonderful individuals sitting at the very heart of our communities who are the reason they’re so unique and special. This is certainly the case with our popular Day Therapy Centre, which has long united our staff with members of the Launceston community receiving home care support.
Driven by a person-centred, individualistic approach to programs and activities, the centre aims to improve client’s quality of life as well as optimise their level of physical and social activity.
It’s also an amazing place for clients to connect with one another, build new friendships and memories, and mark the year’s many milestones.
Our clients kicked off 2025 while still feeling a festive glow, especially after such a well-attended and extraordinary Christmas celebration only days prior! More than 80 clients came together to enjoy a wonderful festive spread, a live band performance, a community raffle and – most importantly of all – each other’s company to put a cap on another momentous year.
Of course, it wasn’t too long before everyone was happily united again, drawing on the Australia Day public holiday as an opportunity to share a delicious BBQ (followed by a traditional pavlova dessert) before enjoying a bit of friendly competition through several fun games and activities.
The following month, Valentine’s Day saw the Centre adorned with hearts and flowers – the perfect backdrop for a high tea gathering full of everyone’s favourite treats. Clients left with their bellies and hearts full, a wonderful reminder that Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romance but celebrating the people who make our lives brighter, each and every day.
We know how important regular social engagement is to mental and emotional health and wellbeing. That’s why through our Day Therapy Centre – as well as our home care services in other communities – we’re passionate about supporting clients to live social active lives. This includes providing access to individual and group programs, linking them with others for fun events and activities, and in some cases, helping them adopt and utilise new technologies to stay in touch with loved ones.
