Buongiorno! Autumn Lodge Heads to Italy
Autumn Lodge |
Autumn Lodge’s social care team is helping residents travel to destinations around the world – no passport required and no need to leave the comfort of the activities room.
The initiative, developed entirely by the home’s own social care team, uses immersive themed experiences to bring the sights, sounds and flavours of international destinations directly to residents.

The latest event took residents on a journey to Italy, combining themed food and wine, cultural history, trivia, virtual sightseeing and music to immerse residents in a rich, multi-sensory afternoon.
Research consistently shows that social engagement, stimulation and a sense of joy are critical to the wellbeing of older Australians.
Autumn Lodge’s social care team’s approach is all about designing experiences that engage residents across all their senses, reflecting a growing understanding that quality aged care goes well beyond clinical outcomes.

The Italian afternoon featured a themed dining experience, afternoon tea with pizza, Italian pastries and Cabernet Sauvignon, a virtual tour of landmarks including the Colosseum, Piazza San Marco and the Sistine Chapel, before concluding with a singalong to Dean Martin’s That’s Amore.
Autumn Lodge’s General Manager Joanne Parry said, “Every resident deserves a life full of joy, curiosity and connection. This program is about bringing the world to them without them having to leave the comfort of their armchair.”
