A Memorable Birthday Call-out for a Beloved Cohuna Village Resident

Cohuna Village |

Phyllis birthday

Our Cohuna Village aged care community recently came together to celebrate the special birthday of one of the home’s most beloved residents: Phyllis Luck.

Phyllis, who turned 104 years old, celebrated her special birthday in appropriate splendour and style, surrounded by her fellow residents as well as the home’s staff members and broader community, all of whom were over the moon to honour her ongoing contribution to our Cohuna Village family.

For Phyllis, the day was made even more memorable thanks to a visit from her daughter, Brandy, who flew down from Queensland especially to be with her mother and join in on the festivities.

And to top things off, word of Phyllis’ milestone day even made the news! Upon hearing about her birthday, the Breakfast Show on ABC Radio Central Victoria – which is broadcast to a huge active internship across the state – was only too happy to give Phyllis a unique shout-out (including a special song request), particularly after hearing of her historic affiliation with their network.

As mentioned on the show, Phyllis’ connection with the ABC began more than half a century ago. In the 1970s, she worked for the national network in their Richmond studios as a wardrobe coordinator. For many years, Phyllis left an indelible mark on the ABC team. She was responsible for supervising seamstresses, cutting out costumes, and ensuring the designs were followed as per the drawings, which included finer details with the hand-sewing of sequins/applique.

On behalf of Respect, thank you to the ABC and the team at Radio Central Victoria for their lovely tribute to our remarkable resident. And further special thanks to everyone involved at Cohuna Village for organising such splendid festivities in honour of Phyllis, which completely brightened her day.
