Going Above and Beyond: Local Generosity Unites Day Therapy Centre Community

Clients of our Day Therapy Centre in Launceston, Tasmania, recently enjoyed coming together to do their bit to help raise extra funds in support of the centre’s ongoing service to the local community.

Preparation for the much-anticipated annual car park sale started more than four months ago, with clients preparing and producing unique hand-made creations to sell during the morning. This included special towel packs, sewn from scratch; decorated pot plants, each grown especially for the event; and home-made slices and truffles.

Our Day Therapy Centre is proud to deliver services and activities for locals in Launceston, incorporating key wellness and reablement approaches in line with the purpose of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). Driven by a person-centred, individualistic approach to programs and activities, the centre aims to improve client’s quality of life, enhance their social skills, as well as optimise their level of physical and social activity.

It’s also a unique and an amazing place for our clients to be creative, as well as make new friendships and memories – as demonstrated by the community’s wonderful approach to the annual fundraiser.

To help support clients’ creative side when preparing to fundraise, Respect’s home care team worked with our community of clients to plan their creations and assist with shopping and purchasing the items needed.

As a proud non-for-profit organisation, Respect remains proudly connected with our philanthropic roots. It is the lifeblood our organisation and we continue to honour the great tradition and history of each of our services developed and supported through significant community generosity and the kindness of those willing to donate both money and time.
